How can I focus on taking a picture of myself?

Use a remote trigger or position a "target" where you will be and prefocus manually. Either method will probably take several tries.

Set the camera on a tripod or something sturdy. Focus the camera on an object on which you will be near. Then place yourself where that object is. Set your camera on the timer. Or if you have a remote use that.

Well there is the good old fashioned way and using a tape and measuring to the focal plane mark on the camera. If your body has the mark it is a circle with a slash through it. Then you set the lens according to the distance. Or do as others have suggested but I will add set you aperture to f8 for more depth of field. That will help you with more keepers.

You could always put something in the place where your head would be, focus on that, set the camera on timer, replace the item you focused on and your done!

I used to do travel pix of myself in the scene with the camera on manual focus and just focus to the point where I would be in the scene and use the self timer-works real well the first time

Some people have told me I do that (put something in the place where your head would be) a lot. :S

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.
