How to take a picture like this

4 years 9 months ago #663090 by aog.photo
Hi,

I am curious and i hope someone can tell me the technique behind a picture like that.

I want to try this this weekend.

I know how to take pictures of the night sky, but my question is since it takes around 15 secs to capture the stars, wont the person appear to be moving with the flashlight ?

Is this superpositions of 2 pictures?

*sorry for bad english*

A composition? Not necessarily.

Figure the time needed to expose the sky, then a flash
output in the tent or a longer gas lamp, and finally use
a powerful torch the create the beam in the sky. All in a
single exposure… trial and error.

Good luck and have a good time! :P

Light is free… capturing it is not!

Thank you for the answer. I'm gonna try to do this in one shot and also try to do my first composition to compare.

Proper Depth-of-Field
  1. Put on your longest lens.
  2. Set the camera to aperture priority.
  3. Set the aperture as low as it will go.
  4. Step as close to the subject as you can while still allowing the lens to focus.
  5. Place the subject far away from anything in the background.
  6. Put the focus point on the subject.
  7. Take the picture.

This photography called Moonscape Photography. Including the moon in your photo. You’ll need to be very careful about where you position the moon in your photo if you want to avoid extreme appearance. You should set up your longest lens, then focus point on the subject.
