How to take Water Drops Macros...........

A few of my friends has asked me how I take My water Droplets. I would also love to know the ways and tips of my friends.
I am sharing some ideas as to how I take Water drops macros

1) A macro lens is a must.( I use Tamron 90mm)
2) A natural drop on a Flower or a drop placed by a Syringe...
3) An additional Flower can be placed some 3 to 5 inches behind the drops.
4) A syringe with the needle removed is very useful for placing the drops on the flowers or other surfaces.
5)Add a bit of sugar to the water. The drops will attach itself more firmly even on slippery surface.
6) Use Aperture Priority in your DSLR...
7) Any Aperture from f 11 to 20 is useful for getting even sharpness ( So I like to take these kind of images in Sunlight or bright shade.)
8)if taken in sunlit conditions you might get a flare on the drops which adds to the beauty.
9) if you use F2.8 etc ,you get sort of Dreamy Images where the focus will be on a small area
and you get a great bokeh.
10) Use tripod if necessary especially if you are taking images at F2.8 or so.
11) If it is taken in sunlight you can get lens flare on either side of the drops which adds to the allure....
12) Don't get too close to the drop or the lower part will be darkened.
14 take these images on windless days hence either the flower in the background or the drop falls off...
15) Make sure that the whole flower is reflected in the drops..( You may have to move this way and that for that!!)
16)Cheap materials like Thermocol etc come in useful for pinning flowers or reflecting light.

I do hope this helps....You can of course use different colored Flowers for effect....

Great, as I already noted. Is that a Fresnel effect in the sixth photo (down), or a pattern in the material. It would be intriguing to see a Fresnel affect in what must be mostly a reflection...
Nicely thought out technique!

I bet these sell well. Do you have a contract with a printing company?

Matthew :)

If I may suggest, please go looking. I bet you could sell 1000's of cards, posters and etc.

The most reproduced photographic image in the world (taken with a Leica camera btw) is the portrait of Che Guevera, we've ALL seen. It can be found on all types of merchandise, mostly in litho (no shades of gray). The #2 image is a poster by Robert Doisneau. A young couple kissing by a fountain in black and white. If you're over 30, I'm sure you've seen it.

It used to be you had to sell "fine art" prints to be considered a "serious" photographer. But, now with the web, the whole world is a market place. Take advantage of it.

Matthew :)

PS thanks for "friending" me. It's my pleasure.
