What white balance mode are you shooting in?

I've been told to keep the white balance on the "cloud" to keep a nice warm feel to the photos, others say the "auto" position is the correct mode to use for every day shooting.

What are your thoughts? What mode are you shooting in?

Auto usually comes pretty close. Check my albums. There is one where I shot a series of snow shots in each white balance setting. Snow messes with white balance anyway but I did this as a guide. If you set a custom white balance, a cloud (whitest thing) you should get decent shots.
Try the experiment yourself under different indoor and outdoor conditions and print a guide sheet. Just note which is which and the conditions.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

Often times it's a matter of taste too. I often use an ExpoDisc while shooting, but again it depends on the situation.

Depends. I rarely shoot AWB because I shoot indoors in artificial light and my Canons don't do very well in those conditions. It's the reason I shoot mostly RAW because I can tailor my WB to the situation. For weddings I have often used a warmer light to give the people a healthier look. At a local concert venue I counter an awful sickly looking yellow/orange light to look almost white, while the camera's AWB had it looking bright red.

My auto WB comes very close to perfect when shooting hockey and getting the ice white. This is with a Nikon D90 body. I only mess with the setting when I am shooting outdoors.

I use my Custom sets with the exception of indoors, then I use one of the light settings, then I take a shot then adjust if needed. This is the one feature I love in my D300. I can get the white balance dead on indoors for whatever the light source is.

Depends. If I'm shooting inside for an event and the light isn't going to change, I use a gray card to get the WB right so I don't need to mess about later.

If I'm shooting unpredictable light, I shoot AWB and fix it later (SHOOT RAW and you can do this).
