seamless backgrounds

I've been looking online for seamless background paper, and while I'd like to save money I also don't want to end up with a roll of off-white construction paper.

The prices I've seen range from $25 to $100 & I'm not sure what brand to trust. Can anyone suggest a reputable online source or a few good brands?

I'll probably go for a 53'' x 12 yard in white & maybe black depending on the price. I have to get a stand as well.

I've never used any kind of pro background before so I'm not sure what to expect. How strong is it, does it rip easily, is it at all washable, are they made from different materials? Any advice is appreciated!

I use Savage Products ~ PoleVault Stand and Papers. I usually buy them from Adorama due to selection. It is paper so I don't think you will be able to wash it. It does rip if your not carefull but it is pretty sturdy overall. You do need a flat hard surface for the floor, table etc to stop ripping and wrinkles. When using roll paper, tape is your best friend! My local craft shop is now stocking the 53" rolls fo paper, so now it is easy to get without ordering it.

Not sure what your going to do ... I also use White and Black Muslin Backgrounds but it wrinkles quick.

Thanks. Is Muslin better or worse then paper?

There are several grades of muslin, some are thinner than others, so you must be careful. Muslin will last a long time with care where paper can be used up quick. I use a steamer for wrinkles.

I you are going to use it for portrait work etc - you can also purchase linoleum and paint the backside. That you can clean.

Take a look at the backdrop outlet on here Ednra, they have a great reputation and often have sales, you could also make your own out of a kingsize bed sheet, they come in many colours and I have used many, they wash easily and they last ages, get yourself a portable steamer then when you hang it for a shoot steam away.
