Paper back ground vs cloth?
Paper is great as you can tear it off and start anew each time it gets damaged, but it does get damaged easily so you can go through a roll in no time so can work out pricey too.
Personally I went the cloth direction, get yorself a mid grey cloth background and learn how to light it correctly and hey presto from one cloth you can have many different colors including Black or white.
