Day Hike Camera Bag

Hello All -

I like to get out about 10-12 hours every weekend on what I like to call my camera walks.  I'd like to be able to bring my camera and lens (possibly 2), a cleaning kit, travel tripod, ID and keys and a water-bottle.  The bags I've seen are either too big for a day hike or too small.  Does anyone have any suggestions for a mid-size bag, or share their set up?

If a backpack is too big, you could mix this up. Fanny pack or holster bag plus a shoulder bag. I did try a compact sling bag, but found it to be rather awkward.

I don't like sling bags either. I use a Tamrac Adventurer eight or nine, don't recall, for day hikes because I hate it less than any of my other photo backpacks. Carries my camera with attached lens and two extra lenses, and has a pretty good sized zippered area that holds my filters, a few batteries, some snacks, etc. Water bottle holder on side. Can rig a tripod on the bottom or back, but its clumsy.
I think you need to find a store that carries packs and actually see and feel them...if you can still find a B & M....

Why so serious?

Lowpro small sling is what I use for short 1 camera, 1 or 2 lens day trips.

BTW, I should have mentioned personally, I'll just use one of my larger purses for day trips that I want to go lean and mean.
