My new tripod: Rollei C5i

3 years 8 months ago #701501 by Esseff
My new tripod arrived today - a Rollei C5i - to replace the plasticcy chinese cheapie I used before.

First impression: it's solid! Solid as in good! Considerably heavier than the old one too. I expected more weight but not this much. Not complaining as it looks and feels really well made. It stands 159cm tall fully extended on three legs. Came with some extra tools and a carry bag too. I don't have any experience with tripods and I assume this isn't a top shelf item (based on the price) but as an engineer I look at this and I see quality. Perhaps I will upgrade some time in the future but for now this tripod is perfect. Really can't wait for the weekend to give it a whirl. Very happy with my purchase

Congratulations!

A very tempting deal at less than 90€, irresistible!

Light is free… capturing it is not!

Just bought a second one of these. Very happy with the first one and I got the quick change plates too so I could easily change between camera and camcorder. But honestly, a second tripod was definitely needed since I often want to use both at the same time.

There may have been a part of guessing in buying the first one
but there was surely not in the second purchase.

Absolutely. Very impressed with the first one and I can't really see how the user experience can be improved. So a second one was one the cards for sure.

I think Rollei make quality products in general. Also bought a Rollei Wildcat gimbal for my camcorder...

I like the size of that tripod.  Looks like this would be a good travel tripod.
