So has anyone ever tried to use wallpaper for a backdrop or faux flooring? OR any other substitues?

Ok, so I am not a millionaire, but I want pretty backdrops and faux flooring for my photos.... I was considering using wallpaper for backdrops or even laminate flooring.... Has anyone tried this..... and would it be too shiney? If anyone has ever substituted anything else for the safety of their pocket book, please share :)

I never have, but I don't see why not. In the end, it's all a background, so it shouldn't matter if it's actual wallpaper or a bought backdrop.

I've never thought of using wallpaper. I think that would be pretty expensive, too. I buy fabric at Joann's for most of my backdrops. I know Backdrop Outlet is having a major sale today (I think they are calling it their "Spring Cleaning Sale"). I don't know how long the sale will be going on.

I dont buy backgrounds from photo outlets as they are way to expensive, I buy cloth from the cheapest shop I can find, as long as it is 3mtrs wide and 6 mtrs long I am happy, grey black and white are my colours of choice

I have just taken a look at backdrops, they are reasonably priced yes, but just remember you have to have knowledge on cutting out your subjects, and if its to look good you have to be good.

Having said that this is worth looking at.

Thanks for the tips! I laugh at myself, I feel like such a hick when I show up for a shoot and set up with my husbands shop work light and my car shade reflectors.... I make it work, it just feels very unprofessional

LOL! I thought I was the only one that did something like that! I have a desk lamp with three lights that you can position, which I have used. I never tried the car shade reflector (although it has crossed my mind). Last year Backdrop Outlet had a lighting kit with 2 lights on sale for $99, which I did buy. So now, I can leave my lamp on the computer desk! :cheer:

Just looked at that photobacks site, pretty interesting. Seems to be priced fair. Just didn't see how often are new photos added to the database. Did I miss that?
