The Best Way to Upgrade Your Camera in the New Year

With 2018 just around the corner, it's time to start thinking about how to upgrade your photography experience in the new year.
In thinking about what I've done in the past to make photography more enjoyable, a few things come immediately to mind.
My new Nikon D850 is certainly a breath of fresh air that's made photography all sorts of fun.
But that's an extreme example...
Instead, in thinking about what changes I've made that I appreciate the most, it has to be switching from my old camera strap to my new one.
I Love My Camera Strap...
I know that camera straps aren't a titillating subject, but trust me on this; the better the camera strap you use, the more fun you'll have taking photos.
I got a Holdfast MoneyMaker, and it is hands-down one of the best purchases I've ever made.
For starters, this thing is unbelievably comfortable.
I have a leather MoneyMaker (you can get American Bison leather, water buffalo leather, and bridle leather, among other materials) that fits me like a glove.
And the more I use it, the more it conforms to my shoulders, making it an even more comfortable fit as time goes by.

This Thing Makes the Process of Taking Photos Easier
But the comfort of using this type of camera strap is just the beginning.
I love to photograph landscapes, and in the past I would just carry my camera either over my shoulder or around my neck (which is decidedly not comfortable) or I'd carry it in my backpack.
The problem with carrying my camera in my bag is that (1) the bag wasn't a camera bag so it was hard to keep my gear organized, and (2) it was difficult to even access my camera when I needed it.
The MoneyMaker solves that problem because it allows you to carry two cameras (or three, with the addition of an extra strap) right on your hops where you can reach them at a moment's notice.
That means no digging around in a dark bag trying to get your camera out for a shot. Instead, you can grab-and-go, get the shots you need, and move on.
And don't think that because your cameras are carried on your body that they're somehow more susceptible to damage.
The camera HoldFast screws into the tripod mount of your camera, which is then secured to the MoneyMaker via a Safety Catch and Sailboat Clip.
In other words, your cameras will be safe and sound as you go about the business of taking photos, be that in the urban jungle or a literal one.
Is There a Better Looking Camera Strap?
For what it's worth, the MoneyMaker looks stupid good, too.
The leather straps with the metal accents on my MoneyMaker looks like a million bucks.
I love how HoldFast embraces the "imperfections" in the leather (stretch marks, insect bites, natural wrinkles, and even scars from brands) to create a truly one-of-a-kind piece just for you.
It just adds to the story of the experience, one in which you slide this thing on, grab your gear, and take some awesome photos.
In fact, the MoneyMaker looks so good that you can easily use it if you're a wedding or event photographer for occasions when you need to look like a million bucks, too.

Final Thoughts
I know that many photographers prefer function over form (I'm one of them). However, Holdfast has managed to create a camera strap system that's got form and function.
As I said before, switching from my old camera strap to the MoneyMaker is one of the best decisions I've ever made.
Sure, a MoneyMaker isn't exactly cheap, but the extra expense to get a top-shelf camera strap is worth it.
And when you think about it, how many cheap camera straps would you go through in your life? Trust me when I say that once you buy a MoneyMaker, it will last you until you're no longer able to take a photo. When you think about it like that, a MoneyMaker isn't just an investment for 2018 - it's an investment in photography for a lifetime.
I don't mean to gush and throw superlatives around like a star-struck teenager, but that's just how good the MoneyMaker is.
If you want to improve your photography experience, upgrading to a MoneyMaker is just what the doctor ordered.
