Description

While the 50mm f/1.8 is an excellent performer for the price, there are some higher-end models that perform better and have better quality at the maximum aperture. Nikon's similar f/1.4 will offer more sharpness at the lower apertures with a bit faster autofocus performance.

While not the best Nikkor on the market, the f/1.8 50mm offers solid performance and image quality for an excellent price. It's ideal for portrait photographers, but also offers an affordable low light boost for new photographers looking to add to their kit lens for the first time.
