With just three leg sections and a rather hefty 7.7 pound weight, this Manfrotto is sturdy enough for extreme long exposures and working in windy conditions. This tripod is packed with features, including an accessory attachment for holding a reflector or LED and a 90 degree rotating rapid center column. The bundled three way pan and tilt head is very smooth to operate, even for video. The tripod design is easy to use and the craftsmanship is durable.

Designed more for stability than portability, the MT055X is a bit hefty at nearly eight pounds. Those same three leg sections that contribute to the stability make it a bit large even when folded at 29.1 inches. The price is rather middle-of-the-road for tripods, but considering the construction is aluminum alloy and not carbon fiber it is a bit pricey.
