Best trick to improving my photographic creative eye?

I'm sure there must be some tricks that the pro's practice when getting out there and learning how to find shots.  Knowing what to look for or that something might photograph well at a different angle.  I can't imagine everyone is just stopping and doing this randomly and just hoping?

It is a matter of mindset to me. You have to look at the world as a potential subject, no matter how mundane you might thing something is. Just sit around sometime and watch how the light changes, and how as it is changing what you are looking at changes. It eventually just become second nature at one point in life, and when it does you are ruined for the rest of your life, because you will always have that strange perspective about things.

:agree:  What he said.

No, it's hardly random. And no, there are no "tricks". In addition to being in the right place at the right time, it's a matter of practice, practice, practice. Study others' work, be self-critical, and (if relevant) put the phone away and pay attention to the world around you.

:agree:   What they said.

As you walk around, look at and study details ... lines, forms, shapes, textures, colors.  Study them from different angles.  Observe what the light is doing.  It takes practice.  It also takes me a long time to get from point A to point B. :)
