A couple more HDR images for C&C

Here's one I kind of like, except that the wind was causing the clouds and tree to move too much :(

This one is way overcooked, but I just did it for fun to play around with the software. (These were done with Luminance HDR, a free software I mentioned in the free software thread.)

the first one is ok but as you say the 2nd one is well overcooked, have downloaded the luminance HDR so will get around to giving it a go soon.

I love the overcooked one. It looks like it could be a poster up in a boy's bedroom or the cover of a story book or something.

Hadn't thought about those possibilities, thanks! I guess there is a use for going a little off the deep end with HDR... ;) I'm usually just concerned with making things look realistic, but now you've given me an interesting perspective for some future HDR projects.

I like the "overcooked" one too! :)

The first doesn`t do anything for me but love the second 'overcooked' one!!

I like, now did you us a flash in the second one? That bright light is a little distracting.

No, I didn't use any flash. I can't figure out for the life of me where that light came from! In fact these were both converted to HDR from the same series of original images -- just processed differently.

I guess I should mention, some of the HDR conversion schemes in the software I'm using aren't intended to look realistic -- just to make something artistic. I just wasn't expecting that to include adding a bright light

It's fill light.

The ghosting from the tree's, and blotching from the merge is killing it for me. HDR doesn't like foliage. Maybe focus on the truck? go for texture.

Thanks for the critique, Scotty. Your HDR work is great so your opinion is definitely valuable. Here are a couple different cropped versions, each processed differently.

The first is like the overcooked one but with the contrast dialed down quite a bit.

And the second is also overdone, but with detail rather than cartoonish color and contrast.
