Guess you haven`t tried Nik plugins John,my workhorse plugin for Ir is Color Efex 4 & for Visible Light Viveza 2.

All the tools you need to get these effects are already built into Photoshop (and most other image processing software).

Control contrast and tonal range: levels or curves.

Local contrast enhancement: unsharp mask/smart sharpen or the clarity slider in ACR/LR.

Hmm... I've never even thought to look into plug-ins, aside from a short affair with NeatImage that ended with me eventually losing interest in using it.

Every one them looks like a Highlight/shadow adjustment with the highlight pushed to 100.

I actually think the flower looks worse.

When the last candle has been blown out
and the last glass of champagne has been drunk
All that you are left with are the memories and the images-David Cooke.
