sometimes i forget

sometimes i forget that the whole point of c&c is to improve. i often find myself posting my favourite images from a shoot.
i almost didn't post these because i wasn't really happy with them, but then it occurred to me, duh! you guys can help!

i feel like i sort of wasted this wonderful sunset, perhaps you guys could give me some ideas to improve?
i tend to be very minimalist in my landscape shots, so maybe i just don't like them because they are to busy, or maybe the overall composition isn't so good, or the subject matter just boring?

Good shots.....i like the 1st one better although its a tad soft IMHO....i would try to move fwd to chop off the rock and see how it looks...and is the sky really that pink...? maybe you can try a little less pink..

I also like #1 a lot better, the tones in #2 appear washed out. As for #1, I would shoot it as a square format, leaving out the foreground rock. And straighten that tilt to the left, and aim more to the right a little. And the timing may be off, shooting a few minutes earlier or later might have given the water more color. The little things can getcha.

It looks like you used a polarizer at full effect. Wonder what it would look like without the CP in effect if in fact you did use one. The rocks in the water say yes.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

I like the first one better as well. I would crop it a little closer.

The first second is better than the first one from compositional point of view. In the second on the water basically guides to the main subject which in this case is beautiful scenery. The first one has two subjects stone and the background scenery. So, I found first one quite distracting and busy.

Long exposure works with simplicity. This is busy and the blur from the foliage and weird color hue from the sky just kind of looks messy. Too much foreground as well.
