Before the Storm

{Inspirational Photo}     I absolutely love this shot from 'Patrick Difruscia' called " Before the Storm ".  From the sun lit red dirt to the ominous clouds that are lurking above, this shot keeps your eyes busy.  You can even see there is a down pour in the background.  Then of course is the creepy half dead tree that adds so much character to this photo.

If you haven't, go browse this guy's web site. He has some great images. He said he uses Luminosity blending of images to get many of his final images. Good stuff!

I agree, amazing.  BTW what is "luminosity blending"?

I agree, amazing.  BTW what is "luminosity blending"?

Basically it is manually blending images together. It's what you would call hand crafted HDR. It takes the parts of each exposure by masking, blend-if sliders and such to blend the best parts. It's what HDR software programs try to do but the usually give you an unrealistic looking image.
