Pope Shield Flash Diffuser

Hey everyone,
are you using a flash diffuser for macro photography? If yes, which one? Did you build one by yourself?
I am using a simple DIY flash diffuser for about 3 years and it works great, but when I discovered a "professional flash diffuser" called pope shield, I bought one to test and compare it. As it comes with a "Roof" I was really surprised because it produces way more light than my diy one. Now my flash is able to handle 1/1000s F11 at ISO100 which is pretty awesome :D
Here is the side by side comparison of the DIY and PRO flash diffuser:

The problem with this is that when you are at life-size, you are very close to your subject and if it an insect, the diffuser will disturb the insect's surroundings and cause it to flee. It looks great for studio work or where an insect may be out in the open...

There is no increase in output but a less loss situation thanks
to the reflector. my suggestion is if you have a dome for your
flash, it should be in the equation.

Your production is clean and well written but you talk too fast
for my French speaking ears. Keep rocking! :P

Light is free… capturing it is not!
