Guess who was hiding under the door?

I was in the process of rebuilding the rotten wood under the cottage door and this fellow peeked out at me. He stayed for me to get my camera and test out several extension tubes. Then the caterpillar showed up on a board sent over from next door.

Then at the end of the day, a beautiful sunset.

Thanks. He was about 3 inches long. He was living in the rotting wood that is no longer there. I think the daylight was a surprise to him. After the "photo shoot", I gently relocated him under the kitchen area nearby. He'll have lots of cool places there to settle in.

Thanks. I had not had time to research. Replacing the rotten beam and deck is eating up all my time. If that species in in Nova Scotia, I'm buying your story. :P

Great shots John, he looks like a monster-was so surprised how little he really was when I first saw him on facebook. Love the caterpillar and sunset too, nice shooting my friend. :)
