He's just too serious. Here I'd like to see more DoF.

Seems n00bs all jump on the shallow DoF bandwagon, when they move from a P&S that doesn't allow it to a DSLR that does.

But, some subjects look best when they are tack sharp front to back. Agree?

Matthew :)

:judge:  :goodpost: I'm planning on getting some day old bread to feed the boids this weekend. If I'm lucky I might get a few close ups like this. Thanks for the inspiration.

I would have loved it to be sharp from front to back. I'm not sure at this focal length that it would have been possible handheld. Sometimes it is what it is. No prize winner for sure. Just a quick shot while walking by.

Your EXIF shows, f/8@1/400 ISO 180.

ISO 250 and a 1/250 shutter speed would get you to f/16 (using the Sunny 16 Rule). Maybe not ALL sharp, but a little more DoF.

Be a good reason to visit again. ;)

You need to find a bird that has had a nose job. They are common in LA I hear. Right Mathew?

F-16.0 wouldn't have made much difference. The subject distance at that focal length, which was an effective 405mm would mean upping the ISO and shutter speed and you might eventually get the depth required.
