Last of the Autumn Colors in HDR

Both of these were done with 3 bracketed images, continuous shoot - processed in Nik HDR Effex Pro and Minor Post Edit in Photoshop CS4. This is my first post; All input appreciated. Thanks

:welcomeclan I'm glad to see you posting. Enjoy the site... :woohoo:

I like the first one. I can't tell it is HDR which is a good thing IMHO. The second one does not seem right. I'll watch to see what some of our HDR experts say.

I've just started working with HDR so I'm definitely not one of the experts Charles mentioned - not even close to an expert, yet.

I agree with what he said, the first one doesn't look like an obvious HDR image and that's the best way to use HDR in most cases -- especially any kind of nature photo. It looks like perhaps you lost a little saturation in the HDR conversion, but the colors look natural.

The second one, I think pine needles are nearly impossible to do well in HDR! There's almost no chance your images are going to line up correctly, which is probably why it looks a bit off. The slightest breeze will ruin your chances of it working. I would honestly stay away from pine needles for HDR photos. Even leaves are tough, they move quite a bit too. But you did a pretty good job of getting the leaves lined up almost perfectly.

All in all, from an HDR beginner, I say nice work but avoid the pine needles ;)
