Amazing Morning .......

As crazy as this sounds I was able to sit on the ground and "chat" with this 8 point Whitetail Deer. Took some pics ... talked about stuff, for over 1/2 an hour ...... So cool

Thanks everyone ..... This was taken in Cades Cove - Great Smoky Mountain National Park. I do not ride around the loop road and take pictures, like most folks do .... I find one of my "places" that seems likely, get out and hike in to where the critters might be.

Chas .... I do wear camo clothing ... but nothing so intense as a ghilly suit, however in this case it was not necessary. I moved (walked) around the buck and his 5 ladies ... sat down about 15 yards from him and just relaxed. He didn't move and definitely knew that I was there. The gals just kept on grazing ... no big deal for them either. ..... Oh and did not say much, just keep chewing on grass.

Eventually he got up and started grazing with a small buck and then did a "sparring" training with the youngster.

I have developed a patience that I do not have with most things in life, when it comes to my wildlife photography.

Great job. Once you learn that "patience" thing, it does make wildlife work so much more rewarding. Thanks for sharing those beautiful images.

(Can't do the camo thing here right now. Hunting and all that.)

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

Fantastic images Bob, these are awesome. It doesn't sound crazy at all, I talk to wildlife All the time. So cool that they let you get so close to them, they know a good spirit when they see one. :)

You have posted some great shots from Cades Cove. I rode through about 20 years ago on a rainy day without a camera. I want to try and get back there next Spring - with camera - and hopefully, I will have a 70-200 to shoot with. Love your shots.

Just an old beginner.
