I have found a nesting pair on Lake Harris but they are too far off the water for me to really "get" them. I was playing with the teleconverter a few weeks ago. The advantage of the longer lens is negligible when used on a boat due to the degradation of IQ and the movement of the boat. It might make an interesting experiment to see which is better - the teleconverter image versus cropped telephoto image. I'm thinking they are pretty close in detail.
