The Moon - Finally Learning How To Capture It

12 years 1 month ago - 12 years 1 month ago #216435 by Joiemagic
When I got home tonight, I looked up and saw this beautiful moon in the sky. Having just read a few articles on how to shoot the moon, I decided to go down to the beach and give it a try...

Took a bunch... this is one of the first... still looking at the others, but will post a few more if I think they are good.

As always, feel free to comment...

Great shot :judge:. Maybe with a good off camera flash you could of got that shaded area at the top of the moon

You will not be judged as a photographer by the pictures you take, but by the pictures you show.

Of course this would only work if you use a telescope and aim the flash directly through it...

Seriously though, nice job, Joie. This is one you can also use to enhance some nighttime skies...

Lunar shots are not easy - you are doing something right! :judge: :judge: :judge:

Joie... try a black and white conversion then bump the contrast - it might sharpen it up quite a bit. I'd be curious to see the results:thumbsup: :woohoo:

Charles... Ask and you shall receive. Let me know what you think... B&W and adjusted the curves... No, not the craters or the shape of the moon....

Also, from what I read about shooting the moon... whatever the camera is telling you is right, under-expose by a few stops... Doing these shots has helped me understand a few other things about photography that I was having some trouble understanding.
