American Snout

I was wandering around my favorite wildlife refuge, working on getting some small bird images (yeah I know ... I like pain and frustration) .... When I noticed this ugly little butterfly following me around. It's known as an "American Snout". The butterfly would land on the camera and the tripod when I would stop and then follow me when I moved to a new location ...... After taking a few pics of it on the tripod I decided to see if it would move to my hand .... turns out that it preferred my thumb! I had a good time playing with this little guy.

That's a good one John .... Normally I'm like most people that I know .... chasing them around, never getting much in the way of keepers!

They are so elusive, especially when you want to catch them in flight.

Great job, Bob! This is only second one of those I've seen one of these neat little creatures. Very cool that it allowed you to handle it! Thanks for sharing!!!
