Although in my experience, rattlers will pretty much ignore you and leave you alone as long as you do the same for them. They don't want to be bothered and they certainly don't have any interest in getting close to you. I also just heard a statistic that a huge percentage (don't remember the exact number) of rattlesnake bites happen to young men under 26 and most of them with some influence from alcohol... So if you're just careful and don't mess with them, snakes like this aren't as big of a threat as we usually assume they are.
