It was a bit tricky to shoot through the screen in the window, but it was 96F outside. Better him than me out in the sun like that...

Screen is way too distracting, plus not enough bird. Put up the screen, lower window, turn on air conditioner and very important....move bird feeder farther from window, and put up a perch above and behind the feeder...............;)

Why so serious?

He was literally sitting on the window sill so there was nothing to see but his head. The screens are semi-fixed and opening the window would have brushed him off the sill as they're vertical and crank outward.

The bird feeder is around on the other side of the house.

I was just happy to get reasonably close to him in the first place.

If you want to tone down the screen in the background of the third shot, you could make a copy of the photo, clone the whole thing green, then use a blur to get rid of the screen. Layer that on top of the original, reverse effect, and paint the background.

A cardinal perched on my front porch railing yesterday and by the time I thought - Should I go get...? it was gone. Probably why I'm not a wildlife photographer.

The screen really spoils:beerbang: the pictures but #3 looks like it has potential.....

You will not be judged as a photographer by the pictures you take, but by the pictures you show.

I know u wanted to get that bird so quick glad u did before it left, yea the window is distracting but u took that risk... keep the third as candid shot , u can also remove the window and blend in more of his red color and see how it looks then...

Hah! Icepics ...That's what birds do. But that's why it's so very satisfying when you do manage to capture a shot. ;)

Beautiful bird just a pity you couldn't get more of him in the frame but I'm sure you know that yourself ;)
