My first photo shoot of sunset. Comments, tips, and criticisms are welcome. This will help me improve my skills.

This a nice shot. I really liked the low exposure setting and silhouette effect.

However the composition could have been little better. Since there are two major subjects in this picture it's hard to follow what you are trying to focus. If I focus on child then I miss the sun and vice versa. I was little distracted with two different subjects.

:agree: If you have moved to your left a bit to get the child facing into the image, it would have improved the image.

Good first effort. A Graduated ND filter might have balanced the bright sun a bit.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

Thanks for the advice. It's my first time to shoot a sunset using my newly bought Nikon 5100 camera. Still familiarizing this camera though :) I might purchase lens and accessories later on so I will take note on that Graduated ND filter. If you had any suggestion regarding lenses that i might buy later on (for landscape & outdoor photography) pls. don't hesitate to comment again. Many thanks :)
