Shameless Brag Post
I shot this on October 22, 2012 on the grounds of the Wayside Inn in Sudbury MA using a Nikon Coolpix P510 on a monopod. Aperture priority, manual focus, ISO 100, 1/320 sec, f/5.9, 180mm.
My main subject was the grist mill that day and I wasn't paying much attention to foliage as it was well past peak, but this single red leaf in the distance caught my eye. I liked how, in the warm light of the late afternoon sun, it really stood out against the blue sky. When I framed it, i liked it even better… seeing those small branches showing where other leaves had been really helps tell a story.
Post processing was in Photoshop Elements 10. I made no exposure or color adjustments. I did give it a slight crop and sharpened, on the leaf only, by applying high pass filter.
