Does anyone have editing suggestions?  I just got lightroom and am learning how to use it.

Very good shot¡¡ Why not in color?

I like the shot, would probably prefer a color shot as well, but understand the time of year. Maybe a tighter crop? This might be a great subject in the fall.....;)
(All the falls in my area are still frozen.... )

Why so serious?

I like this.

Things you can do:
  1. Increase the sharpening; use masking to sharpen edges only. I imported the jpg into LR5: try an amount of 106 and masking of 77.
  2. Use the contrast slider to create more contrast. It will spread things out (watch your histogram. I tried a contrast value (on the JPG) of 88.
  3. Press the 'j' key in the develop module to monitor your whites and blacks. This will tell you when you've blown something out or made it too dark.  The highlights and shadow sliders are your friend here to control the range, secondarily the whites and blacks sliders.
  4. With the above contrast value I set shadows to 49 and whites to 4.
  5. Clarity at 20 -ish can help definition.
  6. Use a brush over the water in the pool (not the falls) and lower the clarity to fuzz it out. Right now, the turbulence distracts the eye; you can control this by softening the water and lowering the highlights. I used clarity = -80 and highlights = -41 to knock it down.
  7. Straighten the image. Those trees at the top should be vertical.
  8. Per the above, I cropped to remove the right side rocks and a bit of the top and bottom; I find them distracting.
Your settings on the RAW image may be different; this is intended to give you some ideas on manipulation. Ultimately, you have to decide how the PP fulfills your artistic vision.

Your centerpiece is a bit off. The rocks are too sharp, appears like it is your focus. But the view is great. Keep it up.
