Yes, as always. This is a back lit situation and, to render the
mood, a given degree of recovery is desirable but there is
a threshold — not so much in terms of DR but of quality in
visual perception as illustrated in this side lit capture:



BTW — I limit the term "UNDEREXPOSED" to emulsion treat-
ment as I find it non applicable to digital processes where it
is referred to as rendition — DR being way greater than it was.

Yeah actually on second viewing, I think perhaps the white background on this website is throwing me. It would look great with a dark framing.

You might be right about exposure being the wrong terminology. But that's what all the editing programs are calling it. So you might have to get used to that :p

I quite like the second shot you posted. The textures in the log are nice.

Hard headed, I am in contact with the maker of my converter to have
it changed for luminosity value or else that would be more relevant. I
teach the distinction to all my classes.
