Give me your opinion. I'm getting ALOT of mixed reviews!

This is a photograph I took on my second newborn shoot. The mom loved it, and I got alot of possitive comments on it from alot of others. Although, when it comes to fellow "shooters" I am getting negative feedback! Just wanted a few more opinions! Feel free to be honest, you won't hurt my feelings! Kinda different, what with the person holding the child, hands only showing...What matters is that the customer likes it. People have different opinions & as such you will have people who love it & others who don't. So, as I said, if the customer likes it, that's all that matters.

I like it a lot it has emotion and tells a story its also a good B&W conversion, just remember you cant please everyone all of the time, if the customer is happy then you have achieved a good result. :judge: :judge: :judge:

Personally I don't understand why some don't like it. What are they telling you?

You're right it seems to be a new wave... this is better than some that I've seen. I've worked with infants and toddlers w/delays as an Early Intervention Specialist so I find looking at this suspended in mid-air type position uncomfortable more than pleasing. Of course there may be some support that isn't seen in the photo. This baby has a look that seems somewhat concerned; I've seen some where the baby looks quite distressed...

Maybe that's why you're getting mixed feedback. If a picture makes someone feel like they want to go get the baby out of that awkward mid-air position, or if the baby looks less than blissful, it doesn't seem to make for as pleasing a photo.

Good point. Now that you point the expression out that makes sense. Other than that...

Thank you all so so much for your comments and support. I get that it looks like the baby is suspended in air. He's not actually though :) His Mommy is dressed in all black, his side is actually against her belly. (I just darkened the shadows a lot to fade her out) He didn't want her trying to "crunch" him into a ball! Hence the not so happy face! LOL.

Other's are telling me they "just don't get it" that it's "creepy" that you can only see the mom's hands. That it completely breaks the "rule of 9's" ... just a few comments I've gotten. It's funny how different people's opinions are!

I'm so glad some of you like it!!! It does make me feel better! Thank you for your opinions!

I think technically it is excellent- great exposure. I am not really fond of the floating baby look- but that's me. I don't like the baby in a hammock thingy either. If you and the client are happy- that is what matters, I would like to see some more of Mom though, to work on the mother/child bonding aspect.

Well I'm not one to just say "good shot".

With this one I like it except for a few things.

1. The arm/sleeve on the left IMHO shouldn't be totally gone. This looks like Thing from the Addam's Family as entered the room.
2. it sorta looks a tad cutout to me (minor point really)
3. The babies foot is cut in half by the sleeve. IMHO fixing number 1 (bringing in a tad of detail there) will solve this awkward look.

Great apart from those things. Really like the lighting and the idea. Very cool.
