photobod wrote: I have noticed something strange on my computer screen (no not my reflection), I click on reply to topic and go through the due process, but I have noticed that when I click submit, there is a box at the top of the screen and a symbol within that circles around with an arrow, if it goes anti clockwise and is coloured black, the photo times out, sometimes within a few seconds it reverses and goes clockwise and changes colour to green, then after a minute loads the photograph after about one minute, if it starts off clockwise in the colour green, then, if I take my hand of the mouse it freezes, when I touch the mouse off it goes again, sometimes I have to keep moving the mouse until it has uploaded the photo, does this happen to anyone else and could it be a common problem and hence the reason why some people cant get there photos on here. ???????.

That's just a timer David - similar to the original Windows hourglass... I suspect the black timer is "sending to the host" and the green is "receiving from the host" or something like that.. in and of itself probably has nothing to do with the image upload issues but it could be an indicator of what it going on in the background... stopping and resuming would indicate a lot of traffic on the network or a poor connection with a lot of retries..
I've wondered too if sometimes people are trying to upload a photo and they hit the "Back" button before the cycle is complete - would that cause a disconnect and the errors we're seeing? I haven't tried it myself to prove/disprove the theory though...

Lisette.. make sure your photo is less than 2MB in size, and jpeg probably works best..
click on Add File, browse to your image, select it, and click Open.. when the filename shows in the attachment box, click Insert, then click Submit... Should work just fine..

Lori and photobod,
The Tarantula was quite tame. I was only about 3 inches away from it for the picture. The snake on the other hand was wild and extremely aggressive. My brave photog buddy Brian had to have gloves on to pick her up. It was difficult getting a good shot because she was striking so much.

At which point I would have had to leave, and head home to change clothes. You're very brave!

It can be as tame as it wants to be, it aint getting anywhere near me, and as for snakes striking, no way jose.

I photograph a variety of subjects, but my reptiles and arachnids seem to have more impact for viewing. Therefore I seek out these more unusual subjects to shoot. I have gotten to the point where I can hold non-poisonous snakes and get within a couple inches of huge spiders for macros, but I have a very healthy respect for these wild creatures. They can and do move a whole lot faster than I can. If I had a longer focal length macro lens I could get shots from a greater distance. But as it is, I only have a Nikon 60mm micro. So you do have to get very very close to your subject for decent macros.
