I don't see others downloading my image as a bad thing. If anything, I take it as a compliment. Someone really likes that image. Just because it was downloaded doesn't mean the person's intention is bad. I have a folder that I have inspirational images in. I use them as a reference of specific poses I'd like to try, special effects such as multiple images combined into one scene, etc. I have no malicious intent with these images; they are for inspiration only. I will never repost them or use them as my own in any way.

Likewise, if someone wants to download my own images, they are free to do so ... as long as they forward me the same respect.

To think, because an image is non-right-clickable, they are safe, you are setting yourself up for disappointment. Like I said earlier, if someone wants them they will get them. I am fully aware of this and so, even though I should be watermarking ... and probably will eventually, any image I post, anywhere, is size and quality appropriate to be appreciated, but not really financially usable. Aside from adding that watermark (in an area that it can't be easily removed or cropped out), that is the only protection we can really give them if we will be posting them at all.

Finding someone else posting your work as their own does leave them open to a lawsuit, as someone mentioned earlier. If you threaten them with that, you'll be amazed at how quickly your images disappear from their site. If they don't, well, you can have a nice second income.

I have never personally found any of my images on the net where they shouldn't be but, I have looked into it and, if I do, I know the steps involved to taking action.

Thank you PT for your efforts on protecting our work ... it is greatly appreciated.

Just remember everyone, locks only keep out the honest.

Sure, practice makes perfect but, unless you learn from your mistakes, you are only perfecting your ability to fail.

:agree: :goodpost:

I was playing with my camera (go figure) and a test subject was right in front of me so I snapped a shot of my monitor. This type of low tech download can only be avoided if you keep your work in your portfolio and never let it see the light of day.
