Hug Me! I Won't Bite!

Introducing The Crab Spider ... master of disguise.
Anybody wanna hug?

This one's a male:

This one's a female:

What's interesting about these spiders is they can change their colour to match the flower that they are on. It takes them 7 days to emit the yellow pigment into their bodies, but only one day to remove it and return to white.

Here's one with the yellow pigment:

Cool shots. That must have been what I shot up here a couple of weeks ago.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

I have one where the spider has caught a moth, but I'm still looking for it.

Great photos. We have those here I just did not know what they were. The strange thing is I have not seen one this year, and I spend a lot of time crawling through the grass looing for small flowers and bugs. I am glad the neighbor's son is a photographer so she dose not think anything of my odd behavior.

Cool shots, I've never seen one of those. The first one looks like a cartoon character from Pokemon! ha ha ha

Great shots! I've seen the spider in yellow - never in white - that was cool

I've only seen one this year (June 30). I'm not sure what species it is though ... I haven't researched it yet. It had caught a bee on a Marsh Mallow down by the river (yes, a Marsh Mallow is an actual flower).

Cool! I never seen spiders like that. How can you tell them apart as to which is female and male?
