I would like to know how to take a shot of a spider web....do you have to have a macro lens for this?

tips?tricks?advice...or even example pics?

Having a macro lens would be an advantage, but not having one does not necessarily make or break an image. I shot this image of a spider web with the 35-70mm kit lens I got with my Canon Rebel. I just got in as close as I could. The advantage of using a macro lens is that you have the ability to produce the life size image of the subject (1 to 1 magnification).

Don't forget to bring a spray bottle of water with you. Spray the web with fine mist to add some drama to the web :thumbsup:

And try to position yourself so that there are colors behind the spider web. You will be focused so tight on the web that everything else will be out of focus and just a blended color. This will compliment the photo.
