No, I'm talking about how to purposely create a catch light while taking the picture.
But if you know a way how to do it in Photoshop, that would be helpful too.

Catch lights are create by a light source. One main light source. Your flash, or a studio light being as the primary light source. You mainly want one catch light, not 2 or more. But if you do get more then one catch light it's an easy edit out in photoshop.

Catch lights are easy in photoshop just use the elliptical marquee tool make a small circle within the eye make sure it is in a position where it doesnt look odd, think about where you light is coming from, then you can use the erazer tool to make the inner cirle white, or you can just dodge the eye, select the dodge tool size the circle to suit a catch light and click until happy. there are several other methods but you could google catchlights in photoshop and find a video that willl teach you.

A lof of times you could tell which light modifier (softbox, beauty dish, etc.) the photographer used by the shape (rectangular, circular) of the catch lights. The size of the modifier, the intensity of the light, distance, and how the light hits the eyes affect the quality of the catch lights.

I can not look through a magazine any more without looking at the catchlights in the eyes to see the direction of lighting that was used. It drives me crazy. But is good practice.
