Using a Canon lens on Nikon camera with Novoflex lens adapter?

12 years 9 months ago #113669 by Gammill
I was reading another thread here and just noticed a ad for this Nofoflex lens adapter. This thing claims that most lenses can be used with most camera bodies with this adapter. Is this true? How do all the controls and such work? Will the autofocus, metering and such work just as they would with Nikon/Nikon (camera/lens)?

I doubt the veracity of the ad....Can you post a link to it? Since different cameras have different register lengths, they can't be easily interchanged. Features such as AF/IS/VR all have different contact points for info transmittal to the camera. so the claim is bogus.

Hi,
I don't want to disagree with what Scott says, But.... Unless something has changed at Navoflex, they produce some extremely nice "high-end" gear, such as Auto-Bellows and many other pro line accessories. So I wouldn't be too quick to discount them making a quality adapter.

However, as Scott pointed out, the register-length would cause an adapted Canon to Nikon lens to lose infinity focusing, unless the adapter has added lenses. As a "general rule", the quality of the optics, or other factors, probably means the adapted lens will not produce the sharpness and color it's capable of.

As for "will the adapted lens maintain auto-functions", I'd suggest searching the web for reviews, or specifications on the specific adapter you're considering.

While such things sound great, I'd personally sell the Canon lens, and purchase similar in Nikon instead.

Jmho...

I've seen the ad, it's by HP Marketing or something like that. I read it but was uncertain myself. Seems like big set of shoes to fill if you ask me.

Wow such a deal and you can buy those white lenses so everyone thinks you shoot Canon, I don't see the real value in it except for a specific lens or two as Nikon offers similar products to Canon and all. Must be similar to the Adaptall mounts that mate specific lenses to different manufacturers bodies.

I just went thru B & H's Novoflex lens adapter listings & they show no EOS to Nikon lens adapters...B & H would carry one & it would be a well known & bought item if this were the case...

Thanks Scott, I was just about to check myself and saw the link. Just for sport I'd like to add a bit. I found where someone on another forum commented they'd purchased such an item on Ebay, but closed the link before thinking, and have doubts. This isn't to say it's not possible someone besides Navoflex makes one, or will. There may also be other ways to adapt, such as changing the mounting flange (as the old saying goes, "anythings possible"), but I'd never recommend it.

With that said... if you want to shoot with Canon glass, the simple way is to purchase a Canon body.
