Wearing glasses that have transitions lenses in them?

Good morning,

I have a odd ball question for the all the photographers who wear eyeglasses. I just got a new pair of glasses that have those lenses that have the auto-tinting. So when I step out in the sun, they turn darker. So obvisously when I'm out shooting in the day light, things look darker then they appear. This has been driving me crazy since I got these glasses.

Those who wear glasses, do have the same issue?

Are you keeping a second set of glasses that do not have the auto-tinting?

Or are you just dealing with it and go on with your shooting?

I used to have them...I didn't see where they made things darker when in bright light as I assumed they would...I have to take off my glasses when I shoot anyway (I just have the camera viewfinders dioper set where I need it) soshooting is never a problem. I just had to put my glasses back on to view the LCD afterwards...

Yeah that's the thing, I have been wearing my glasses the entire time of taking photos for some time. So I do see a difference when looking in the view finder with tinted glasses vs non tint.

I usually wear warm tinted, polarized sunglasses outdoors in the daytime. I take them off momentarily to shoot. They change the appearance of the world significantly, but there's always the issue that the camera does not see like I do. Even when I'm not wearing sunglasses. I'm aware of the differences, and adjust accordingly. The meter and histogram aren't influenced by what's over my eyes.

My issue with those transition lenses is that people get used to never taking them off. People will take sunglasses off for portraits, but when I ask if Transition lens wearers want to take off their glasses they often decline. Okay... so there's one guy in the portrait wearing sunglasses.

I won't get tinted prescription glasses. I do not want to be looking at the world through a coloured filter except when I choose to. I have clear glasses and opted for matching clip-on sunglasses which I mostly wear just when driving. When actively observing what's around me I won't usually wear sunnies. The one exception to that - The polarizing ability of the sunglasses helps me to visualize images that might benefit from a polarizing filter, especially dramatic skies.

I am like Scott and take my glasses off when shooting as it is more comfortable for me and the tint doesn't get in the way

This is the first time with these sort of glasses, wish I had not gotten them with the tint. We'll at least I have my old glasses I can wear out.

Oh dear, now I am worried. I got the transitions in my new ones, I guess I will have to see when I get them.

I kept my old ones, so I think I will just use my old ones for when I'm photographing out in the sun

I usually don't wear my glasses when I'm taking photos. I can't imagine looking though the view finder wearing sunglasses though.

Done that many times. IMHO sunglasses and transitional lenses are just like putting a ND filter on your eyes (assuming they're not tinted some colour.
