I'm looking for GPS tagger for my Nikons

12 years 9 months ago #116822 by Todd Phillips
I would like to start geo tagging my photos and would like to see what options are out there for $300.00 budget. Anyone have some suggestions for a nice geo tagging device which fits in my budget? Doesn't Nikon make one? I need to Google this.

Anyone using one of these or any ideas about it?

Google works. Nikon makes their own, but the reviews on it are so-so. Takes awhile to "find itself" on a map.

Off brands seem to be preferred. Ex.

I certainly don't mean to mislead anyone. When considering getting one awhile ago, I did some research. My research said the Nikon version works well when left on, but eats battery power so you will want to turn it off. And when turned on and off, it takes some time to position itself. I read more positive reviews of the third party variety.

I don't have first hand experience with either though, and the Nikon version could have been improved since then.

I always leave it on. My battery life is insane though (D3s).

I've seen mixed reviews on it as well.

I'm hoping Nikon makes a GP-2 that is smaller and fits where the plug-in goes. I need my hot shoe.

MLK it says I edited your post under your name, but i somehow hit edit instead of quote.

I changed it back to normal. lol sorry about that.

this is what I MEANT to say in regards to your post.

The GP-1 comes with a clip, so you can clip it to your strap, instead of your hot shoe.

It's not exactly slick though.
