Writing directly to computer

Is it possible to have your camera write the images you take directly to, say, a folder on your computer's desktop via USB? If so, how?

Yes, its called 'shooting tethered'.

The software you want/need to do this, is Remote Capture...or something like that.

Do you mean write them to your folder as you're taking them? What camera are you using? Canon EOS (and Nikon I'm sure) allows tethering a camera to a computer and controlling the camera from the computer with utility software..

Your camera shouldve came with the usb cable and program to upload to a computer, if not it should be available.
