So you can use a Canon lens on Nikon camera with V3 Adapter?

I was just reading another photographers notes where he claimed he used a Canon lens on a Nikon camera with the aid of a V3 adapter. What I didn't see was if he still had all the automatic controls of the lens?

There are many lens mount adapters available. You can find them that will allow almost any lens to be fitted on a Canon or Nikon camera. Most disable the lens related auto-functions. Some work pretty well, and others are junk. Make sure you look up reviews. Nikon to Canon or Canon to Nikon are probably some of the more common ones, and made by numerous companies.

So this is pretty good to know, opens up more opportunities for shopping around for used lenses. I can deal with manual control. Thanks for the tips

I've not seen any Canon to Nikon adapters. Not to say there aren't any, just that I have never seen one & I've been shooting for 40+ years. If there is such an adapter, all auto functions would be disabled & infinity focus would be lost unless you have an additional element to correct for this. This is all due to the cameras having different register differences. Nikon's is one of the longest & as such, cannot mount other OEM mount lenses with adapters unless they have the element. Canon, on the other hand, register is much shorter & many lenses can be adapter to their cameras. Just do a search on eBay & you will see many adapters to fit other mounts to Canon, but very few to fit them to Nikon (the closest exception is the old Pentax M42 screw mount but that still requires an element to achieve infinity focus)...This subject comes up every so often & I believe it was touched on here in this site before...Check the archives

AFAIK yes....Here's a link to the V3 adapter that you mentioned. It's for mounting Nikon "G" type lenses on Canon cameras, not for mounting Canon lenses on Nikon cameras

B&H has them. They seem to have positive customer reviews. No mention of the infinity focus issues, which I think would be important to point out to potential customers.

Edit: Whoops! I searched "eos lens to nikon body" and that's what popped up, but obviously it's a Nikon to EOS adapter. :S

Comes up as a dead link.

At first I got the "dead link" as well, but on clicking it again, it comes up to an adapter for mounting Nikon lenses on Canon cameras, which , as I said, is common & not what the OP was looking for. Still have yet to find a Canon lens to Nikon cameras adapter...

Just noticed that myself. I searched for "eos lens to nikon body" and that popped up. I should have read it better.

That is correct you can adapt a Canon lane to the Nikons but lose infinity. The nikon lenses though work fine on the Canon bodies.
