Google +

I finally got an invite to Google + and as I heard it is great for photographers, I have made a start at trying to create a presence. I never really got into Facebook (I must be pretty unique there!), so this is a chance to get into something as it develops.

I created a URL for myself by forwarding an existing website name to Google+ - in my case it is my name - www.SteveHeap.com , although I also found out a way to create a directory in an existing web site called "+" and then you can forward www.backyardsilver.com/+ to your Google+ home page.

I've uploaded some pictures, written some posts, and I'll see what happens. I do have some invites to Google Plus if anyone wants one. Send me a PM and I'll send an invite.

How do other people find Google + for photographers? I can see a big issue is going to be keeping my blog, my Google+ page and the various fora I'm a part of, up to date. Maybe there is an application that does that automatically?

I've been on it for several weeks now, but am not overly impressed....Read where there was a big bru ha ha about their TOS & photos, but it appears the same as most any others

I've been on Google + for a couple of weeks. I check it out the first day I got on and haven't been back since. Like Scott, I am not that impressed either. I'm sticking with facebook.

The big advantage I see so far is that you can post to a "circle" and not all your "friends". That eliminates a lot of the crap you get on FB.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

I like it better than FB. Basically it seems similar to me, but organization and setting up who sees what is a lot easier. I also use several other Google services, and they are all integrated. As soon as more folks join I predict I'll leave Facebook behind just like I left Myspace behind.

I heard people can only join google + by using a gmail, no other email is accepted at this time. Does anyone know for sure if this is true?

I also left myspace for facebook. Mainly because myspace is full of viruses and people's pages are pure junk. Too much graphics, etc..that makes the page load slow. However I can't see me leaving FB for google+. Just like although I join twitter, I hate using it. Many people have left facebook for twitter, but not me. I think Google+ is just a simple version of facebook. At some point it will catch on...just like myspace, facebook and twitter. And people will join because it's Google.

I joined it as well. I think it'll die within a few months. It's losing members at an incredible rate. Which sucks because I hate Facebook.

I haven't seen it yet, what seems to be the issue with it? You think people are afraid of change?

People get on there and it's not as big yet. Maybe people are thinking why change when what they have is already working?
