I got so wrapped up in yesterday's beetle battle that I forgot about the rest of the images I captured. Here's my faves:

Stargazer Lily from above

My first clear focus of a Bumblebee

It is just me or does this fly actually appear to have really fine fur?

For those who missed it, yesterday's beetle battle:

The Stargazer Lilies are the pride of my garden and I'm having a problem with (so far only one) Red Lily Beetles, aka Lily Killer Beetles. The "beetle battle" was a fight between an ant and one of these beetles that I had failed to kill.

I checked out beatle battle. Lovely shots! What do you use to shoot your macro? I mean, not just a macro lens, but tripod as well? or was that hand held?

All my macro shots are handheld and I use an 18-55mm lens reversed with a reversing ring. I don't have a lot of DOF to play with and keeping my shaky body still is difficult ... that's why most are not perfectly focused. I use the camera's pop-up flash with a homemade difuser on the end of the lens.

I do have extension tubes now but haven't had a chance to use them.
