Difference between Kenko extension tubes and Zeikos

12 years 8 months ago #125492 by NormNYC
So I see the Kenko's are more expensive, what I'm wondering is what could the difference be? There is no glass elements, it's just air. So should it make much difference which extension tube I buy? Or is there a difference?

Thank you

The cheaper are a little more "plastic-y". One member here mentioned they were hard to remove. But, once they got broken in they were fine.

And yes, it is just AIR!

I have the Kenko's and like them. These are much less than the Nikon versions

The reason for the big price difference -- the Zeiko are all manual (no in-camera metering). Nikon and Kenko make tubes that couple the electronics, and hence cost more.

My Zeikos have electronic connections and autofocus and metering work just fine on my Canons. They were a bit stiff at first but OK now.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

My bad. They are so inexpensive I concluded they were like old ext. tubes, without the connectors.

Thanks Bd. :)

That's cool. They may have upgraded them recently. They work well.

I have the Kenko's and when I first got them, they stuck pretty good and were tough to pull off.
