See just how close this photographer is to this huge bolt of lightning!

Ever since I picked up a Lightning Trigger from "Stepping Stones Products" www.lightningtrigger.com/ I've been hooked on taking photos of lightning. But I have to say this photographer in this video is nuts! LOL

Well I have had it pop close enough to feel the heat from it. I wasnt photographing it either, I was just out hiking. My ears were ringing for several hours afterwards too.

I would be so gone from there... The photographer may be nuts, but I think they are just unaware of the danger. I've been hit twice. The first time, I was hospitalized and the lightning strike actually welded my bike to the guardrail it was leaning against. The second time, I lost the use of my left arm for about a month. The thing about lightning is, it's not really random. It chooses the easiest path to the ground and will strike the closest object when it gets there ... usually the tallest in the vacinity. I don't fear it, but I sure do respect it ... and will hopefully photograph it one day as well.

Sure, practice makes perfect but, unless you learn from your mistakes, you are only perfecting your ability to fail.
