Does anyone have their own photography website? Did you design it yourself, used a template or paid someone to design it? Or are you just using something simple like flickr or smugmug?

I have my own website and I paid someone to design it for me, that was after a lenghty discussion about what I required, I looked at the template type you mention but they seemed a little to rigid for me, I also have photographs on Flickr facebook and I have a twitter page, they are all ways of getting people to your site, I assume you are at the stage of wondering if you need one, just make sure you research the idea before commiting yourself to it.

I use wix.com for mine. They have templates, but I ended up designing my own. There is a learning curve but it's all drag and drop. They are all flash based sites so some mobile devices can't view them. They will let you design and have several options for free, as they make their money by linking your domain directly in, as well as for e-business and expanded storage. You can see mine at www.foto.cr

Well I have Smugmug because for one Im lazy anymore when it comes to website work, that and Id rather be out shooting and doing other things. It amkes it nice and easy and they have several templates to work with. Hell I have a hard enough time post processing if I need to let alone messing with a site.

I'll be using a combination of my own, and Zenfolio. Mine is being worked on currently.

I have my own site.. www.crystalwightman.com/
As of right now it's done through Zenfolio. I just pay for them to host it, I still design it.
Up until a year ago, I actually design my photography site for many years. Before I got into photography, I was designing my own sites, I had a few.
