Can DSLR withstand heat?

This may be a dumb question, but I have been meaning to ask it for a while. I live in New Meixco so it gets pretty darn hot in the summer. I want to start taking my camera with me everywhere I go, but am worried about leaving it in the car for extended periods. Like if I go in to see a movie, or eat at a restaurant. Typically I would leave the windows cracked just to let SOME of the heat out, but it would still be an oven in the car. Aside from fogging issues, would the heat pose a threat to the camera? Could it melt something inside like the sensor or some solder or something? What about on typical lenses?

Insulate it (as in keep it in a case or put it under something) and it will be fine. I keep the camera in the bag and on the floor somewhere, the camera itself never actually gets exceedingly hot.

I'll have to check my manual to see what it says for my camera.

I don't have a camera bag at this current time, because I only have one lens. But I guess I could always buy one and keep the camera in the bag while it's in the car. Thanks.

But an INSULATED bag like for lunches. Better than a camera bag for heat. If you get back to the car, takes it out of the trunk AND if you leave in on the floor, move it. The floor of your car can get very hot while driving (and be bumpy).

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

Alright, thanks. Here I thought camera bags were insulated..I mean they have all that padding in it.

I keep a larger insulation bag (like a fold-able picnic bag) to double insulate.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.
