X-raying Digital Cameras

Is it safe to put a digital camera in the x-ray machine at an airport? I'm travelling next week and my friend tells me to be sure not to let them x-ray my camera.

I don't know what the manufacturer says, but mine have been through several times without any problems.

Mine have been through the xray machine a hundred times I'm guessing and never had an issue.

I concur. I travel constantly on business and my camera goes everywhere with me. The x-ray machines at airports aren't particularly powerful. They won't damage the camera. And the metal detectors don't damage the data on the memory cards, either, if you forget and leave one in your pocket.

Sure beats waiting while they swab 20 film holders for explosives. They were out of the canisters and in a plastic bag.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

LOL When I flew home from Colorado last time with about 70 rolls of film the swabbie 'bout went nuts while I stood there and grinned the whole time.

I never been to an airport, but I am sure it's safe. If it wasn't you would have heard something on the news years ago because there would have been alot of pissed off photographers.

Bet you had some DYNAMITE photos on those rolls. :watching:

My oddest airport inspection I had was in London years ago when they asked me to remove the wide angle lens from my Pentax ME Super so they could look inside. I believe that was back in the 80s.
