Bride getting her portraits done after she is married?

Has anyone ever had a married woman ask you to photograph her and her husband, after they been married for a while, in her wedding dress and him in a tux? The other day I received an email from a lady who was married a year ago, but she is not happy with the bride/groom photos, she wants a do over (now I was not the wedding photographer to her wedding). She wants to wear her dress, her husband wear his tux and get the typical bride/groom shots.

Has anyone been hired to do something like this? How would you treat the session? Like any other normal portrait session?

I would treat it like a normal portrait session. Have you photograph weddings before? photographing bride and grooms? If so, then treat it like that. Charge them whatever your portrait rate/package is.

I have done weddings before. I guess this email just caught me off guard with this kind of question.

Think about it for a min, it wouldn't be any different if you were hired to shoot for a fashion magazine and the model wore a wedding dress. You would have to shoot the session to sell the wedding dress. So in this case shoot the session to sell the fact that the clients are just getting married, although they been married for a year already.

Great opportunity! Wouldn't it be great to shoot a bride and groom, in your studio, or some other controlled environment.

You will not be judged as a photographer by the pictures you take, but by the pictures you show.

Lots of B&G's have shoots after the wedding is over and done, their are cherish the dress sessions and trash the dress sessions, its not usually because they didnt like the wedding photos but hey who cares, its a shoot and just treat it like one.

Well they still are technically "newlyweds." I'd also treat it like a portrait session, but be sure to get some information from the bride about what she's looking for too. I'd be flattered they chose me to recapture one of the most special days in their lives. Plus you could have some fun since there isn't a time restraint like on a normal wedding day (getting to the reception, leaving for the honeymoon, etc.)

Not a big deal. In Hong Kong most people get their wedding portraits done before the wedding. This is just on the opposite side of the wedding. ;)
